Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the resistance to yellowing by light, by using, as the color- developing agent for the heat-sensitive recording paper, a substance prepared by adding, to a p-phenylphenol-formaldehyde condensate, bisphenol A and xylene resin and by currying out the aftercondensation. CONSTITUTION:After p-phenylphenol and p-alkylphenol such as p-tertbutylphenol are reacted with formaldehyde in the presence of an acid catalyst, bisphenol A and xylene resin are added thereto, and the obtained mixture is subjected to the aftercondensation. The quantity of addition of p-alkyl-phenol is preferably 5-10wt% of p-phenylphenol, while the mol ratio between bisphenol A and xylene resin is preferably 0.4-0.5. The quantity of addition of bisphenol A and xylene resin is each preferably 10-40wt% or p-phenylphenol. The resin thus obtained is used as a color developing agent for a heat-sensitive recording paper.
