Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an isomerization catalyst having excellent catalytic activity by a method in which Pt is carried on a carrier prepd. by mixing an H type chabazite- family natural zeolite, etc., obtained by ion exchange with water, and then extruding while kneading under reduced pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A Pt catalyst for isomerizing 8C alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon to high extent with side reaction effects such as disproportionation or hydrocracking retarded to the least limit is obtd. wherein a natural zeolite of chabazite family which is ion-exchanged to H type or activated alumina or its precursor are mixed with water and extruded while kneading under reduced pressure to mold a carrier, and Pt is carried by said alumina preliminarily or after the carrier is prepd. by molding. The catalyst thus obtd. has a high catalytic activity and less effect for causing side reactions.
