Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate installation on a tire of a slip preventive chain which has a plurality of slip preventing cross chains to be mounted on an outer periphery of the tire by connecting one ends of the cross chains to a pair of arcuate ring elements which are connected for pivotal motion to an open and a closed position relative to each other.
CONSTITUTION: A straight ring 1 includes a pair of arcuate ring elements 2 connected for opening and closing motion relative to each other by means of a connecting member 3. The ring 1 and a flexible ring member 4 formed from a chain, a rope, and so on, are interconnected by a plurality of cross chains 5. When a thus formed slip preventive chain is to be mounted on a tire 18, both ring elements 2 are first held by hands in a condition expanded in a opposite directions, and are covered, in this condition, on the tire 18 in a direction A1a. Then, a lower part of the straight ring 1 is pushed in a direction A1b towards a car body whereupon the cross chains 5 and the ring member 4 are guided into predetermined positions on the tire 18. Both ring elements 2 are then closed and latched by a shackle 10 whereafter the ring member 4 is tensioned by means of a hand 16.
