Abstract
PURPOSE: A suspension stabilizer suitable for the suspension polymerization of a vinyl chloride monomer, which comprises a specified PVA, hydroxypropyl cellulose and hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose.
CONSTITUTION: A suspension stabilizer is obtained by compounding (A) a partially saponified PVA of average polymerization degree 200W2,600 and average saponification degree 60W80mol%, having an anionic hydrophilic group on the side chain, (B) a hydroxypropyl cellulose having viscosity ≤500cps in the 2wt% aqueous solution at 20°C, and (C) a hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose having viscosity ≥1,000cps in the 2wt% aqueous solution at 20°C, are compound, in such a proportion that the resulting compound contains 40W95wt% of the component (A) and 60W5wt% of the total of the components (B) and (C), where a weight ratio (B):(C) is 5W40:95W60. 0.01W0.5pts.wt. of the suspension stabilizer is used for 100pts.wt. of a vinyl chloride monomer.
