Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure an accurate correction for the distance amplitude even when a complicated control signal is delivered, by storing previously the control signal in a digital memory and then delivering the stored value successively in a distance amplitude correcting device used for the ultrasonic flaw detection by the pulse reflection method. CONSTITUTION:The data are written into the digital memory 11 in the calibration mode for the signal which controls the amplification factor of the amplifier 6. Then the calibration mode is switched to the actual flaw detection mode. The transmission pulse, if produced, is converted into the ultrasonic wave through the probe 1, and the echo reflected by the the defect or like in the subject is converted into the electric signal to be supplied to the amplifier 6. This echo is then displayed on the A scope 4. When a distance amplitude is corrected, the synchronous pulse is sent to the sunchronous circuit 10 simultaneously with the output of the pulse 13. The circuit 10 reads successively the control data in the memory 11 in a proper time interval to send it to the D/A converter 8. The converter 8 converts the digital data in the memory 11 into the analog control signal to control the amplification factor of the amplifier 6. Furthermore, the route length can be obtained directly when a correction curve is produced since the device 9 which calculates he value of interpolation and then produces the data to be written into the memory 11 is used.
