Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate safety confirmation of the rear lower portion of a vehicle by changing angle of a side mirror from normal to downward one and permitting same to be automatically returned to the original angle through a simple operation in a cab. CONSTITUTION:A convex mirror 2 is fixed to a mirror holder plate 3 to change its angle to a base plate 1 by a hinge 4. A compression spring 6 acts between the base plate 1 and mirror holder plate 3 and the mirror holder plate 3 is pressed until it abuts against a stopper 11. When a switch 9 in a control section is depressed, an electromagnet 5A or 5B mounted on the base plate 1 is operated and a plunger 51A or 51B pushes the mirror holder plate 3 so that the mirror 2 changes its angle about the hinge 4 and the mirror surface has downward angle 2A or 2B. The returning from the downward angle is effected by the action of the compression spring 6 upon turning off of current to the electromagnet 5A or 5B on the basis of a signal generated by an automatic returning device.
