Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure a smooth fluid flow between the rotary body enclosing a fluid container and the stationary system in a device, without using a complex rotary driving mechanism, by using flexible, twist-resistance cables for specifically connecting the rotary and stationary systems.
CONSTITUTION: When a continuous centrifugal separation is performed in the fluid treatment chamber 7, the disk 14 is rotated around the axis 5 by the motor 18 via tansmitter 16 and posts 17. The flexible hollow cable 8 is rotated around the axis 5 by the revolution of the rigid pipe 9, so that the upper segment 8a fixed to the lid 3 receives a twisting force. The twisting does not occur, however, because of the cable material being twist-resistant; on the contrary, one rotation of the cable causes the pipe 9 to make one reverse turn. The same is applied to the segment 8b, so that the rigid pipe 13 makes two turns while the pipe 9 makes one revolution. Thus the cable 8 is not twisted during rotation and therefore the internal flexible fine pipes 10 are not twisted. The cable 8 rotates the rotary body 4 enclosing the chamber 7 at a speed twice that of the disk 14 in the same direction, so that centrifugal separation is conducted in the chamber 7.
