Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture steel sheet having excellent plastic workability in a short time, by supplying vibration energy to the steel sheet using a liquid as a medium after the cooling step of continuous annealing process of cold rolled steel sheet.
CONSTITUTION: A steel sheet strip 1 having been withdrawn continuously from an annealing furnace and is in slow cooling step is led into a bath tank 3 by plural guide rolls 2, where it is allowed to contact with the bath of e.g. molten lead and is colled slowly and continuously. A ultrasonic generators 5 arranged above and under the passing strip 1 perpendicularly to the strip delivers vibration energy of ultrasonic waves through the bath 4 to the strip 1. As a result, the precipitation of solid soln. carbon and nitrogen from surfaces of the strip 1 is accelerated thereby improving the plastic workability of the strip 1. In that case, ≥10W vibration energy per unit area (mm2) of steel sheet at ≤50kc frequency is supplied from the ultrasonic generators 5 to the strip 1.
