PURPOSE:To reduce the noise generating from the cooling air passing through a baffle plate and to elevate the cooling effect of an electric rotary machine by a method wherein the baffle plate is provided between the bearing bracket and the frame, and the sizes of various parts of the baffle plate and the cooling fan are selected to be within prescribed values. CONSTITUTION:The nearly ring type baffle plate 1 is provided being close to fans 4 being formed integrating in one body with the rotor conductors 19, and is punched and holded with the frame 10 and the bracket 12 opposed to loadside. At this time, the ratio of the aperture (a) of the inlet port 2 of the baffle plate 1 to the average outside diameter (c) of the fan 4 is selected to be within the range of 1<=a/c<=1.25, and the ratio b/l of the space (b) between the baffle plate 1 and the fan 4 to the length (l) of the fan 4 is selected to be within the range of 0.3<=b/l<=0.5. By this way, the generation of whirlpool of the cooling air at the neighborhood of the baffle plate 1 is prevented to reduce the draft noise, and the cooling effect can be elevated by making to inhale a large quantity of the cooling air 20.
