Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the rising slug, and to prevent generation of malfunction of the press machine to injure the product, by installing the detector in either one of the moving stripper or the die both interposing the work in the press die unit, and by detecting the clearance between the stripper and the die.

CONSTITUTION: At four corners of the moving stripper 9 (or the die 2) of the press die unit, the detectors 21aW21d for detecting the clearance between the moving stripper 9 and the die 2 are set in the depth 1mm from the bottom surface toward upside. If the thickness of the work 3 is 0.2mm, when the stripper 9 comes to the lower dead point after putting on the driving source of the press machine, the clearance between the detector and the die's upper surface becomes 1.2mm. At this point, if the slug 3b is bitten between the stripper 9 and the die 2, said clearance becomes larger than 1.2mm, which is detected by the detector 21. The controller connected to the detector 21 produces a signal to stop the driving source of the press machine; hereby, the troubles that the press work product is injured by the slug, the stripper 9 or the die of the die unit 2 is damaged, etc., are automatically prevented.
