Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a polyurethane elastomer having excellent elongation recovery and solution stability, by reacting an OH-terminated polyester with an aromatic diisocyanate by the addition of water and subsequently reacting the product with a diamine.
CONSTITUTION: An intermediate polymer is prepared by reacting an OH-terminated polyester, m.p.≤40°C, MW 1,500W7,000, with a sym. aromatic diisocyanate in a mol ratio, -NCO/-OH, of 2W4, by the addition of water in a molar amount calculated from the formula: (the number of mols of aromatic diisocyanate - the number of mols of polyester) × a, wherein a is 0.05W0.30. Then, a linear polymer containing segments represented by formulas I, II and III, wherein R is a sym. aromatic group, R' is a polyester residue derived by removing OH groups from the OH- terminated polyester, m.p.≤40°C, MW 1,500W7,000 and R" is a bivalent organic group, is obtained by reacting the resulting intermediate polymer with 0.70W 0.96eq. of a diamine per eq. of the residual isocyanato groups of the intermediate polymer.
