Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance silencing effect as well as reduce weight of an automobile silencer by a method in which the weight per unit area of a portion to cover cowl panel is made smaller than that of a portion to cover dash panel and both portions are joined integrally to form a silencer.
CONSTITUTION: A pad 2a formed into a sheet, having a smaller weight per unit area than that of a pad 2b, is joined with the pad 2b formed into a sheet. Then, in the same way, a skin material 3a having a smaller weight per unit area than that of a skin material 3b is joined with the skin material 3b. Then, the pad 2b is combined with the skin material 3b in a mutually facing manner to form a silencer 1. Or, the pad 2c and the pad 2d are connected with each other in series, and in the same way, the skin material 3c and the skin material 3d are connected in series to form a silencer 1. Then, the silencer 1 is doubled in such a way that the skin material 3 is positioned on a car room 5 side, a portion 9 having a greater weight per unit area is positioned on the dash panel 7 side, and a portion 8 having smaller weight per unit area is positioned on the cowl panel 6 side.
