Abstract
PURPOSE:To automate presetting and improve on-gage rate and yield by obtaining the relation between the inlet side thickness and differential pressure of the hydraulic fluid of screw-down cylinders with respect to a constant draft by learning mode and feeding back said differential pressure by this relation. CONSTITUTION:In preset-screw down of reverse mills, the leading end of a rolled material 13 is wound on a reel 3 by way of between work rolls 2, 2', and the inlet side thickness of a mill inlet side thickness detector 4 and a target thickness are inputted to a thickness indicating circuit 6. The signal thereof and rolling codes 15 such as the width and kind of the rolled material 13 are inputted to an arithmetic control circuit 10. In the circuit 10, the relation of the inlet side thickness (x) and the differential pressure (y) of the hydraulic fluid of a hydraulic screw-down cylinder 7 with respect to a constant draft is operated by the formula. If the preset screw- down operation is turned on, the differential pressure is applied to the cylinder 7 by way of the signal 16 and servo-valve 11, and is fed back to the circuit 10, whereby the automatic controlling is accomplished. With this method, the yield may be made higher than that of conventional manual methods.
