PURPOSE:To reduce the time required for the whole molding cycle by a method wherein ripples are concentrated in a margin to be cut away in the post processes so as to manufacture a prism with high accuracy. CONSTITUTION:A lower mold 4 is connected to an upper mold 3 to form a cavity K in the form of a pentaprism. Melted molding material is supplied to the cavity K from an injection cylinder 7. Then, the cavity K is cooled while keeping the molding pressure constant for a predetemined time through the operation of the injection cylinder 7. Current is supplied to a heater 61 for a predetermined time from a control circuit 62 so as to keep the surrounding of a wall 411 facing a piston at the higher temperature than the rest. the surrounding of the wall 411, or a margin 18 becomes softer than the rest and locates a position where a large surface with the maximum area is formed, so that tensile stress is concentrated in the margin 18 at the maximum level. Therefore, ripples are not generated at other optical surfaces, so it becomes possible to manufacture the pentaprism with high accuracy.
