Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable cast steel to be used as cast without carrying out heat treatment by adjusting the steel to a composition consisting of a specified amount of C, Si, Al and V and the balance Fe.
CONSTITUTION: Steel is cast having a composition consisting of, by wt., 0.1W 0.14% C, 0.4W0.8% Si, 0.8W1.2% Mn, 0.02W0.12% Al, 0.02W0.1% V and the balance Fe and inevitable impurities. This cast steel well satisfies standard values of tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and reduction of area as cast, and it does not require heat treatment such as annealing and normalizing after the casting.
