Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the catalyst of a catalyst plug from being overheated, and enhance the efficiency of the catalyst plug by dividing a space within the plug into a number of rooms with partition plates having heat pipes, and placing the catalyst in each of these rooms. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust hole 12 and an explosion-proof filter 13 which covers the hole 12, are provided at the top of a hollow vessel 11. A screw 14, which is made in contact with a storage-battery case, is provided at the bottom of the vessel 11. The vessel 11 is divided equally by partition plates 18 along its length to form a number of rooms. Catalyst which is stored in a case 19 made of alumina ceramics is placed in each of these rooms, a catalyst plug being constituted. Small vent holes 20 which communicate all rooms, are formed at the top of each partition plate 18. In addition, a heat pipe 23, one end of which is located near each small vent hole 20 and its the other end is exposed to the external air, is fused to the partition plate 18 for the purpose of efficiently exchanging the heat for that of the external air.
