Abstract
PURPOSE: Barium sulfate is added as a dispersing agent to make a low concentration of carbon fiber disperse most effectively, thus producing a styrene resin composition inexpensively with high mechanical strength, stiffness, conductivity, acoustic insulation and moldability.
CONSTITUTION: A styrene resin is combined with 2W50wt%, preferably 5W 35wt%, based on the resulting composition, of carbon fiber that is high-strength, produced by carbonizing cellulose at 700W3,000°C and cut into several to teens mm in length and 5W60wt% of a barium sulfate powder, preferably of 0.1W50μ particle sized, wherein the total of the carbon fiber and barium sulfate does not exceed 70wt%. When the amount of the carbon fiber is in the range from 5W35wt%, the synergism by barium sulfate develops remarkably.
