Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the character entry frame even if the character frame is not printed with multicolors, by coloring the part around the character frame with gray or black.
CONSTITUTION: When characters on the form are scanned by surface sensor 20, vertical and horizontal-direction projection signals 21 and 22 become black because surface sensor 20 scans the gray or black part around the character frame in figure A. In figure C, the surface sensor reaches the character entry frame, and white appears in vertical and horizontal-direction projection signals. Thus, the character entry frame is detected to read characters in the entry frame. By this constitution, it is unnecessary to print the character frame with multicolors, so that the cost for printing of the form is reduced.
