Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent flowing out of slag and to improve available percentage of molten steel, by detecting arriving of slag in the tapping passage from the reduced speed of molten steel flow at the last period of molten steel taking out work and by adjusting tilting angle of the furnace body in accordance with the detected signal. CONSTITUTION:When slag 7 comes out into descending passage 8 of tapping passage 5 at the last period of molten steel taking out work, a sudden reduction in the flowing speed of molten steel occurs due to a density variation at the curved section of tapping passage, because of the molten steel remained in the ascending passage 12 of curved section. Measuring terminals 9 and 9' detect arriving of slag 7 through variation in electric resistance generated by penetration of slag 7 into descending passage 8. When this detecting signal is received tilting of furnace body 1 is restored toward the original state by driving the converter driving motor through a prescribed electric circuit. As a result, disadvantages, such as rephosphorization caused by admixture of slag which could not be avoided before, lowering of available percentage of adding alloy, wear of ladle refractories, etc., can be solved.
