Abstract

CONSTITUTION: When an air cylinder 13 is operated so that the reference roller 5 is in contact with the short side 2 of an ingot 1, a detection roller 9 is rolled on the center of the short side 2. Accordingly, a signal corresponding to the amount of recess of the short side 2 is continuously output from a differential transformer 6. In this case, the main body 4, reference roller 5, detection roller 9 and differential transformer 6 are all cooled by cooling water.
