Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a simple space heating device without necessitating a power to move working liquid by a method wherein the working liquid is sealed into an evacuated up-right planar hollow body having longitudinal grooves on an inner wall thereof and an evaporating section having a porous body or a fibrous bundle in a lower part of the hollow body is provided.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow body 1 is formed by flat plates having a multitude of longitudinal grooves 6 on an inner wall thereof and a heating pot 2 is provided at a lower part thereof so that a bottom section of the hollow body 1 is provided with a down slope toward the heating pot 2. The hollow body 1 is evacuated and working liquid is filled thereinto while a porous body 4 or a fibrous bundle is filled into the heating pot 2 and a heater 3 is attached to the heating pot 2. According to this constitution, the working liquid is evaporated in the heating pot 2 and is diffused into the evacuated hollow body 1 and dissipates a heat contained therein to effect space heating, thereafter, condensed working liquid is dropped by capillary action of the longitudinal grooves 6 and own gravity thereof as droplets and is returned to the heating pot 2. A space heating device without necessitating a power to move the working liquid may be obtained by a method wherein evaporation, diffusion, condensation and a transfer of liquid phase are carried out as described above.
