Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a positive electrode with strength which provides a good discharge characteristics without using any fluorine resin, by adding SBR as a binder to a positive mixture whose main component is manganese dioxide to make a mixture, molding the mixture into a given shape, and followed by a heat treatment of the molded body at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:A positive mixture comprising carbon black and an active material made of a manganese dioxide, is added with a styrenebutadien rubber as a binder to make a mixture, before the mixture is molded into a given platelike shape and the molded body is subjected to a heat treatment at a temperature of 110-180 deg.C to obtain a platelike positive electrode 1. For instance, 2-4pts. of a styrenebutadiene rubber is added to the mixture of 100pts. of manganese dioxide and 1-4pts. of carbon black. Through the means mentioned above, a platelike positive electrode with strength which provides good discharge characteristics can be obtained without using any expensive fluorine resin as a binder.
