Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure collection of dust by the electrostatic air cleaner and to miniaturize the device, wherein electrode surfaces are made sticky.
CONSTITUTION: A discharge electrode member 5 that comprises a plurality of corona discharge electrodes 4 each having a protruded end 12 for discharging includes air passage holes 6 each surrounding the discharge electrode 4 and engaging parts 7 each surrounding the air passage hole 6. A plurality of cylindrical dust collecting electrodes 1 whose inner surfaces are sticky are formed into a dust collecting electrode member 8 integrally to correspond to the discharge electrodes 4, and mating parts 9 provided to the lower ends of the cylindrical electrodes 1 of the dust collecting electrode member 8 are detachably engaged with the engaging parts 7 to form passages each around the discharge electrode 4. Floating particles in the polluted air delivered through openings 10 are charged by ion shower from the protruded ends 12, and while they are flowing downstream, they are repulsed by the discharge electrodes and are caught onto the inner walls of the dust collecting electrodes 1.
