Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce nitrogen oxides constantly for long time, by heating and contacting nitrogen oxides in the presence of ammonia with a catalyst which is made of a protecting film layer composed of one or more members among titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, and tin oxide to be carried on the surface of a carrier.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust gas contg. nitrogen oxides is mixed with ammonia in the presence of a catalyst made by allowing a protecting film layer having 1W100μm thickness composed of one or more members among the group consisting of titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, and tin oxide to be carried on the surface of a carrier, and is heated at 150W650°C temp. The protecting film layer is preferably formed using porous raw material having 30W70% porosity, and about 90% of the particles, which constitute the protecting film layer, is preferably composed of ≤1μm particle diameter.
