Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently coagulate and separate solids in a suspension by making combined use of a cationic surfactant and a cationic polymer.
CONSTITUTION: A cationic surfactant such as ethylene oxide adduct of beef tallow amine and a cationic polymer coagulant such as polydialkylaminoalkyl acrylate are mixed into a suspension of sludge such as raw sludge or digested sludge discharged from a sewage treating process and contg. much org. matter and fine particles, whereby solids in the suspension grow to huge flocks. Since the flocks have high strength and high suitability to dehydration, solids in the suspension can be coagulated and separated efficiently.
