Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare immunoglobulin for intravenous injection, without plasmin-removing process, by treating human immunoglobulin with immobilized plasmin.
CONSTITUTION: Immunoglobulin for intravenous injection is prepared by treating human immunoglobulin, esp. gamma globulin with plasmin or plasminogen fixed to an insoluble carrier (e.g. Sephalose 4B). Since the plasmin is fixed to the carrier, there is no troubles of contaminating the product with the enzyme, and therefore, the enzyme-removal process is not necessary. The anticomplementary activity of the globulin thus prepared is sufficiently low for the intravenous injection.
