Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform an optimum knocking control constantly in the ignition device with a knocking sensor by determing the upper and lower limit clamp voltags for a knocking control circuit and providing an ignition timing lagging signal based on the output from a knocking signal detecting means within a range between the determined upper and lower limits. CONSTITUTION:The knocking sensor NS detects electrically the vibration of an engine and provides a detection signal. The detection signal is fed into a high-pass filter HPF and band-pass filter BPF, by which the knocking frequency included in the detection signal is discriminated and outputted from a comparator CO1 as a knocking signal. When the knocking signal is outputted, an output terminal Vout of a knocking control circuit NC provides an output for lagging the ignition timing later than the ignition timing at that time. In the present invention, when the engine is started, the knocking control circuit NC outputs a minimum clamp voltage, and thereafter, over the whole driving range, the knocking control circuit NC outputs an appropriate clamp voltage in the range between the predetermined upper and lower limits corresponding to the output from the comparator CO1.
