PURPOSE:To prevent a digital signal receiver from outputting wrong information while a code converter is overloaded, by setting the corresponding linear PCM code to zero forcibly. CONSTITUTION:An 8-bit compressed PCM signal inputted from input terminal 1 is converted into parallel data and 16-bit linear PCM data is outputted from terminal 10. If a PCM code in an overload pattern is inputted, the linear PCM code outputted to output terminal 10 is kept forcibly at low level L of a pattern showing ''0'' according to the states of outputs 7Q and 8Q of FFs 7 and 8. Therefore, while the code converter is in the overload state owing to an input signal of an excessive noise accompnaying the interruption of a relay, the linear PCM code is zero to prevent the following signal processing circuit from a failing to to detect the signal.
