Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled uniform beads in high yield directly, by sintering and carbonizing a raw material mixture comprising a main raw material polyethylene and a specific amount of polyvinyl chloride while being kept under pressure in a heat-resistant vessel.
CONSTITUTION: A powdery or granular polyethylene as a main raw material is blended with 2W40wt% powdery or granular polyvinyl chloride. The raw material mixture is fed to a heat-resistant vessel, the atmosphere of the vessel is replaced by an inert gas, e.g., Ar, N2, etc. and the mixture is heated to 600W700°C under pressure. Formed globular carbon aggregate, for example, is readily dispersed by shaking it in an organic solvent, e.g., pyridine, quinoline, etc. Prepared carbon microbeads are globular carbon particles having uniform particle diameters about 1W2μ.
