Abstract

PURPOSE: To minimize the number of jammed sheets by a method wherein a temporary tray is provided only in a main machine collator unit, and all the remaining sheets delivered per cycle of paper feeding after occurrence of a jam are discharged into the temporary tray.
CONSTITUTION: In cases where a jam is occurring in any collator units serving as sub-machines 300... on the downstream side of a main machine 200, a sheet receiving guide plate 12 of the main machine 200 is immediately changed over, and all the delivered thereafter are discharged into a temporary tray 14 of the main machine 200. Even in cases of a jam, the number of received sheets is coutned in the same way as in normal operation. The number of the sheets discharged into the tray 14 after the occurrence of a jam is set for compensating for the jammed sheets and is automatically compensated for in relation to one cycle of paper feeding, thereby preventing the program for the following paper feeding cycles from being disturbed.
