Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify coating process and to reduce cost thereof by a method wherein coating is done by vaccum molding with the adhesive put either on the outer surface of the instrument panel itself or on the back of the coating material to coat the instrument panel.
CONSTITUTION: The instrument panel 1 is molded into its form using hard synthetic resin like polypropyelen, ABS, copolymer of polyphenylene oxide, etc. The adhesive 3 may be put at least either on the outer surface Ia of the panel itself or on the back a of the coating material 2 like polyviny chloride sheet, vinyl leather, etc. made of soft synthetic resin to coat the surface of the panel. At the same time the coating material 2 is vaccum molded, the back 2a of the coating material 2 is adhered to the outer surface Ia of the panel 1 through the adhesive 3. By this method, the molding cost can be reduced as well as molding process is simplified as compared with the conventional coating using urethane pad.
