Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the reliability for the detection of abnormal overheating of a heat exchanger or the like in a natural circulation and hot water storage type hot water feeder, by providing an abnormal overheating prevention sensor at the downstream side of the heat exchanger and installing an abnormality warning unit. CONSTITUTION:Water in a heat exchanger 396 is heated by a burner 399. When the heated water passes through a hot water temperature control thermostat 367, this thermostat is turned off. The energizing of an evaporation heater 366 and combustion are continued until it is detected by a hot water temperature detection thermistor 372 that the temperature of hot water at the inlet port of the heat exchanger 396 exceeds a prescribed level. When a quantity of circulation decreases due to natural circulation and the temperature of hot water flowing into the heat exchanger 396 rises and exceeds a level set by the thermistor 372, the combustion is stopped. When heating is continued because of a trouble in the detection thermistor 372, the abnormal overheating is detected by an abnormal overheating prevention thermistor 383 to stop the combustion by an overheating detection signal. This results in heightening safe boiling performance.
