Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture thin castings having complicated shapes and good casting surfaces, by filling the clearance around the sand core fitted in the cavity with a molten metal charged in the sleeve, so that the molten metal may suitably be distributed around the sand core.
CONSTITUTION: A prescribed sand core is put in cavity 11 in lower metal mold 3 of casting equipment 1, and set to clamp space 13, and then upper metal mold 14 is lowered and horizontally splitted surfaces 4 and 15 of both metal molds 3 and 14 are coincided with each other. Hydraulic cylinder 7 is operated and counter plunger 9 is set so that it may intercept communication between gate 10 and sleeves 5 and 16. Molten metal 22 is charged to sleeve 16 on plunger 9 through the opening of opening and shutting cap 18. When the molten metal is stored in the sleeve, opening and shutting cap 18 is closed.
