Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent useless consumption of energy in a floor heating system, by providing a planar or sheetlike pressure-sensitive switch means between a planar heater constituting panel and a surface member, so that the floor is heated only when a preson or persons are on the planar heater.
CONSTITUTION: A planar or sheetlike pressure-sensitive switch means 4 is provided between a panel 2 having therein an electric heater for constituting a planar heater 1 and a surface member 3 covering the entire surface of the panel 2. When a preson H exists on the planar heater 1, the portion of the pressure-sensitive switch means 4 on which the person H stands or is seated, i.e., resistance wire 5 is distorted together with the surface member 3 and a cushioning material 6, so that the value of resistance of wire 5 is changed. When this change of resistance is detected by a circuit shown in the drawing, the electric heater in panel 2 is set into operation. On the other hand, when the person H leaves the heater 1, resistance wire 5 restores its original shape and operation of the heater is stopped.
