Abstract

PURPOSE: To offer a miniature optical information reader by arranging mirrors on a document at an angle to determine a reflected light path intersecting at right angle to the feed direction of the document and by arranging a photoelectric converting element on the reflected light path.
CONSTITUTION: Document 3 is transported as shown by the arrow; a pair of line sensor 1 and optical lens 2 are arranged at one side of the document at a right angle the feed direction of document 3, and the other pair of line sensor 1' and optical lens 2' are arranged at the other side of the document opposing to the pair of line sensor 1 and optical lens 2 in the same directin. Then, a couple of mirrors 4 and 4' are arranged opposing in direction while dividing the document surface into two so that while a character reflected by mirror 4' is image-formed on line sensor 1 via optical lens 2, a character reflected by mirror 4 is image-formed on line sensor 1' via optical lens 2'.
