Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure an easy control of position for a record/reproduction head when recording, by controlling the position of a rotary head via the position signal supply head at the position where the rotary head has no contact with a tape.
CONSTITUTION: The rotary head 3a for record/reproduction detects and then reproduces the magnetic flux according to the signals having different frequencies and same levels and supplied from the position signal supply heads 8a and 8b arranged summetrically up and down at the position where the head 3a has no contact with the tape when recording. The reproduced outputs are isolated through the BFPs having different bands, and then a feedback control is given to the position of the head 3a so that the same level is obtained between the reproduced outputs corresponding to the position signals supplied from the heads 8a and 8b. As a result, as easy control is possible for the position of the record/reproduction head when recording.
