Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the connecting and disconnecting work of an optical fiber and a cable simple by forming a signal converting element and an optical fiber into one body, fixing this body into a plug body and fitting the terminals of the signal converting element into the terminal socket part of the cable. CONSTITUTION:A signal converting element 13 and an optical fiber 13 are formed into one body and this body is fixed into a plug body 11. The terminals 14 of the signal converting element 13 are projected from the plug body 11. On the other hand, a socket part 17 is provided to the terminal of the cable 15 and the terminals 14 of the signal converting element 13 are fitted into the jacks 16 of the socket part 17. Hence, the connecting and disconnecting operations of the optical fiber 12 and the cable 15 may be performed instantaneously, and nevertheless the connection of these is electrical and therefore the reliability of the connection is high. These make it possible to use this construction effectively even in places where the connecting and disconnecting operations of the optical fiber and the cable are frequently done.
