Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent oxidation and efficiently compact metal powder by packing the metal powder into a case inserted into a die and molding the same to specific compaction degree by means of a stem sliding in the case then degassing and heating the molding.
CONSTITUTION: Metal powder is packed in such a case 3 which closely contacts the inside wall of a die 1, and a stem 2 is slided in the case 3 by way of a cap 4 to pressure-mold the powder to 50W80% compaction degree. After molding, the molding is taken out together with the case 3 from the die 1, and the inside of the case 3 or the molding including the case 3 is degassed and heated through evacuation to extract the harmful oxygen or other gas components contained in the powder in the molding, after which the molding is subjected working such as forging. However, the powder molding of much higher quality is obtainable if the molding is subjected to working such as forging after a sintering process is provided according to need in order to accelerate the bonding of the oxygen and other gases still remaining after the degassing and heating and the powder particles.
