Abstract

PURPOSE: To make a tough coating layer excellent is preventing corrosion of steel articles, by spraying an article with a composition comprising an unsaturated polyester resin, glass flakes and a peroxide such as a ketone peroxide.
CONSTITUTION: A composition is prepared, which comprises 100pts.wt. unsaturated polyester resin (e.g., isophthalic type unsaturated polyester resin), 10W 100pts.wt., pref., 20W70pts.wt. glass flakes, 0.1W10pts.wt. ketone peroxide, and 0.5W2.0pts.wt. hydro peroxide and/or peroxy ester. This composition is sprayed onto a steel surface to a thickness 300W1,500μ by a spray gun having a spray tip opening 0.5W3mm. The said glass flakes useful for this process are 0.5W5μ in thickness and 100W400μ in sizes. The ketone peroxide is preferably methyl ethyl ketone peroxide.
