Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the manufacture of a high density magnetic material with superior magnetic characteristics by using powder of an Fe-Si eutectic alloy as high silicon Fe-Si in the manufacture of an Fe-Si sintered soft magnetic material of a high silicon content.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts. fine powder of high silicon steel contg. 17W25% Si, preferably silicon steel having a composition near that of the eutectic point (20.5% Si) is mixed with 5pts. polyvinyl butyral as a binder, 6pts. dibutyl phthalate as a plasticizer, 1pts. sorbitan trioleate as a dispersant and 30pts. methyl ethyl ketone as an org. solvent to prepare a slurry. This slurry is poured onto a moving film made of "Mylar" to form a green sheet of a predetermined thickness with a doctor blade. A ring of a suitable size is then punched out of the sheet, freed of the binder by heating to 300°C and sintered at 1,350°C in a hydrogen atmosphere to manufacture a magnetic material with superior magnetic characteristics.
