Abstract

PURPOSE:To make rigidity unnecessary for a pallet, by allowing a work held and fixed on the pallet to directly clamp itself for its positioning to stabilize its posture for machining. CONSTITUTION:A work 1 placed on a pallet 6 is fixed by means of a positioning pin 9, holding bolt 11 and counter metal 12 with the same posture as it is machined. The pallet 6 is conveyed along a guide rail 14 and delivered in a jig at the machining position. The work 1 is then positioned with regard to a jig 15. A clamp cylinder 17 actuates a clamper 16 to press the work 1 to the jig 15 and a positioning pin 4 is fitted in a reference hole on the work 1 for clamping. The work 1 is now ready for machining with a machine 5. This work positioning system does not require great rigidity for the pallet 6 and can reduce its weight.
