Abstract
PURPOSE:To let the deformation of work rolls follow up the deformation of intermediate rolls and make the shape controlling of rolling materials easy by providing the intermediate rolls having roll benders between work rolls and backup rolls. CONSTITUTION:Intermediate rolls 3 of rigidity higher than that of work rolls 1 but lower than that of backup rolls 2 are provided between the work rolls 1 and the backup rolls 2. When the roll benders of the intermediate rolls 3 are not actuated at the rolling, the axial line A of the upper work roll 1 and the axial ine C of the upper intermediate roll 3 are deflected in a state of upward convex by the reaction force of a rolling material W. Next, when the roll benders of the intermediate rolls 3 actuate and upward force FR acts upon the shaft end of the intermediate rolls 3, the axial line C of the upper intermediate roll 3 deflects to downward convex as shown by dotted lines. The axial line A of the work rolls 1 of rigidity lower than that of the intermediate rolls 3 becomes horizontal like dotted lines, thereby rolling the rolling material W.
