Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the constitution of the titled device simple by supplying the electric currents flowing in a phase controlling and rectifying circuit to reactors with exciting circuits differing with each of polarities and making the voltage application to the respective reactors and both phases independently settable.
CONSTITUTION: The electric current flowing to arc welding load 5 at the time when thyristors 8, 17 conduct changes over from the positive current flowing in a reactor 15 to a negative current flowing in a reactor 16 but these currents flow both from a welding electrode 19 to the direction of the welding work 20; therefore, this results after all in that the direct welding current flows in the load 5. The currents restrained in the respective closed circuits of the reactors 15, 16 and the thyristors 17, 18 fix the reactors 15, 16 in a fixed magnetized state at the current restraining and this results in that the reactors 15, 16 flow electric current from a fixed magnetized state. Since the direct welding current flowing in the load 5 becomes the one combined with the currents flowing in the respective voltage application periods of the reactors 15, 16, it becomes of the waveform consisting in superposing large pulse currents on the DC base current of a small value.
