Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the consumption at the tip of an electrode and prevent ill traces from being produced on the electric-current supplied surface of the welding works by separately constituting a current supplying part and a pressing part, in an electrode for a resistance welding machine. CONSTITUTION:An electrode base body 1 is constituted by a good conductor of electricity of Cu or Cu-Cr alloy and a current supplying element 2 made of Be-Cu of high high-temperature elasticity and low rate of fatigue deterioration is screwed by means of a screw 3 to the tip thereof. The current supplying element 2 is of a divergent shape and its tip projects moderately from the tip of the electrode base body 1. When applied with the pressing force at the current supplying, the divergent part becomes flush to the pressing element 4 to be mentioned later and contacts the welding works. The pressing element 4 composed of an electric insulating material is mounted to the tip of the electrode base body 1. When the pressing element 4 is so set under pressure as to position on the upper side of the melt-sticking part at the welding and is supplied with electric current, the pressing element is composed of a heat-resistant insulator and is therefore supplied with electric current by the current supplying element 2 on the outside circumference of the pressing element 4 without being directly supplied with electric current; therefore the area of the current supplying part at the tip of the electrode is large and the consumption is less. Since electric current is not directly supplied from the melt-sticking part, no ill traces of welding leave on the surface.
