Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain liquefied product of a low boiling point with a high liquefaction rate, by adding a comparatively large and specific amount of an iron compound to coal to be liquefied by heating.
CONSTITUTION: Approx. 50W400pts.wt. solvent is added to 100pts.wt. coal and slurried, and then 3pts.wt. or more (preferably 5W60pts.wt.) iron compound is added to the slurry. Then the mixture is subjected to a liquefying reaction at approx. 400W500°C. The iron compound used include preferably ferrous sulide, ferrous oxide, ferric oxide, triison tetraoxide, iron hydroxide, etc., and also besieds said iron compound, approx. 0.01pt.wt. or more molybdenum compound, cobalt compound, nickel compound, etc., is preferably added to 100pts.wt. coal.
