Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve grinding of band saw to obtain uniform set width so that the trace of band saw has the same width of set when the band saw is operated under tension, by moving grindstones continuously on the opposite sides of the teeth of a band saw having upper and lower saw wheels.
CONSTITUTION: Band sawing machine A comprises a band saw B wound around upper and lower saw wheels 1, 1' by use of a tensioner, a grinding means C, grindstones 4, 4 carried respectively on movable beds 3, 3, and motors 5, 5 for driving the grindstones. In use of the machine, a handle 13 is turned for bringing a swept-in cam 9 into abutment with the rear end of band saw B kept in tension and a handle 7 is also turned for bringing grindstones 4, 4 and swept-in cams 11, 11 into abutment with side portions of the teeth of the body of band saw B. Then, supporting bolts 16, 16 are retracted from a bed 14. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to grind the band saw to have uniform set width, so that the saw trace has the same width of set width when it is used under tension.
