Abstract
PURPOSE:To automate by a relatively simple means the insertion of a wier electrode into the work at the time of modifying the machining position which has been conducted by manual operation by utilizing the linearlity of a wire electrode present at the machining portion after discharge machining. CONSTITUTION:There is provided a guide arm 9 having a guide hole 9a for inserting an electrode directly below an upper portion electrode guide 19 and at the upper portion of the work 26, which an electrode cutting device 8 is provided below the work 26, and the tip end of a wire electrode 7 after being inserted into the work is so arranged as to be easy to catch. Then, with the electrode 7 reached to a machining finish position 26a of the work 26, the discharge current is cut off and simultaneously the feed of the electrode 7 is stopped. In this case a linear electrode deprived of curl or the like by the discharge stays in the portion 26a. Then the electrode is cut at a position below the machining portion by the electrode cutting device 8. Accordingly, the insertion of the wire electrode can be automated by a simple means.
