Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform stable and secure laser welding by focusing laser light supplied into a laser working head by changing its direction and by irradiating a body to be welded from its inside. CONSTITUTION:Laser working head 11 is inserted into pipe end 2 of pipe 1 at a desired position. Laser light 13 is supplied into laser introduction hole 14 in the axial direction. Laser light 13 is changed in direction by being reflected from reflex mirror 21 to obtain intense focusing light 13A, which is caused to strike part 8 to be welded from laser light irradiation opening 22, thereby welding securely pipe end 2 and can plate 3 together from the inside at right angle to the axial direction of pipe 1. Rotating laser working heat 11, welding is done continuous in the circumferential direction. Further, the up and down movements of the head forms several welding lines continuing in the axial direction. During the welding, auxiliary gas such as argon gas is favorably flowed through gap 24 between the inner diameter of pipe end 2 and the outer diameter of laser working head 11.
