Abstract
PURPOSE: To gasify a slow-burning solid fuel having low combustion rate, easily with a simple process, by charging the solid fuel to a furnace through the upper part, and introducing a gasification agent from the bottom so as to make a whirling stream.
CONSTITUTION: A solid fuel charging hole 2 is attached to the upper part of a furnace composed of a cylindrical part 1a, a conical part 1b, and a narrowed bottom 1c. Gasification agent such as air, oxygen, steam, etc. is introduced into the furnace through a gasification agent inlet 3 at the middle part of the furnace. The inlet 3 is arranged so as to make a wirling stream of the agent. The narrowed bottom 1c is connected to a chamber 4 for straightening the stream of the gasification agent, and the lower part of the chamber 4 is connected to a foreign material recovery chamber 5 which receives the foreign materials existing in the solid fuel charged into the furnace. A produced gas conducting duct 7 is attached to the top of the furnace 1, and the duct is connected tangentially to the upper part of a cyclone 8 for the recovery of unreacted solid fuel from the produced gas.
