Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a heat resistant alminum alloy for casting with excellent mechanical properties obtained by incorporating silicon, copper, magnesium and titanium in a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: Aluminum is used as a main component and, on the basis thereof, silicon 10.5W11.5wt%, copper 3.0W4.0wt%, magnesium 1.0W2.5wt% and titanium 0.25W0.40wt% are incorporated to obtain an aluminu alloy with excellent mechanical properties, physical properties and good casting property without incoporating nikel. This alloy is of excellent high temp. strength and high temp. fatigue strength as compared to already known alloies and, especially, creep strength in a high temp. is extremely enhanced as compared to that of known alloies. These properties are obtained due to the fact wherein said alloy contains magnesium and titanium at an increased ratio especially as compared to those of known alloies and, by increasing a magnesium content to 1.0% or more, primary crystallizing of silicon is prevented from being generated and cutting processability is enhanced.
